The Smithsonian Annual Photo Contest awards scholarships every year to students and others interested in photography. Since 2002, Smithsonian Magazine has awarded talented photographers around the country for their creative work in photography.
Applicants may submit up to 15 photographs in each of six categories. The categories include the natural world, travel, people, American culture and heritage, artistic images and mobile photos. A total of eight awards will be distributed, including one winner in each of the six categories, one Readers' Choice award, and one grand prize winner.
Photographers must be at least 18 years old. Photographs must not have won any previous contests. Eligible photos are those taken from January 1, 2012 to date. Applicants may apply through the Smithsonian Magazine web site before the deadline.
Smithsonian Magazine is the official journal published by the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. The first issue was published in 1970.
The deadline for this scholarship is usually in NOVEMBER of each year, and the award amount is usually $2,500.
