Gamers In Real Life (G.I.R.L.) Game Design Scholarship

Gamers In Real Life (G.I.R.L.) Game Design Scholarship is open to undergraduate college students enrolled in a program related to video games. Programs can include video game art, design, animation, production, programming, or visual effects.

Applicants must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher and must be at least 18 years old. They must be legal residents of the fifty (50) United States, including the District of Columbia. Students may enter the contest in the Art and Design category, or the Programming and Engineering category.

Scholarship money may be applied towards tuition, room and board, and other education-related expenses. Scholarship winners will also receive a paid internship for up to 10 weeks at Daybreak Games’ headquarters in San Diego where they will receive hands-on experience working on award-winning franchises, including PlanetSide® and EverQuest®.

The scholarship contest is offered by the Daybreak Game Company, a San Diego-based video game developer and video game publisher. The company was formed in 1998 and is the producer of online games including EverQuest, EverQuest II, The Matrix Online, PlanetSide, Star Wars Galaxies, Clone Wars: Adventures, Free Realms, Vanguard: Saga of Heroes, DC Universe Online, PlanetSide 2, and H1Z1.
