CarMax-Rick Sharp Entrepreneur Scholarship
CarMax-Rick Sharp Entrepreneur Scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors attending a public or private high school in the Cities of Richmond, Petersburg, Hopewell or the surrounding counties of Chesterfield, Goochland, Hanover or Henrico in Virginia. Eligible students must plan to enter a 2-year or 4-year college.

Candidates are chosen according to their grade point average, SAT scores, high school attendance record, leadership capabilities, an interest in entrepreneurship, and financial need. Applicants may choose to attend any 2-year or 4-year accredited college or university in the U.S.

The scholarship program was established by CarMax Chairman Rick Sharp who was an entrepreneur himself. Mr. Sharp established the scholarship in 2013 to help other future entrepreneurs in the area. Sharp passed away in 2014 due to complications from Alzheimer's disease.

CarMax is a Fortune 500 company and the largest used-car retailer in the U.S. The company opened in 1993 and now has 147 locations. They are headquartered in Virginia. In 2014, they were listed as one of the Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For.

The deadline for this scholarship is usually in MARCH of each year, and the award amount is usually $2,000.
