The Best of the Batch Foundation is a Pennsylvania-based non-profit foundation that helps financially challenged communities improve their lives. The scholarships are one way in which the organization provides resources for children to attain their education goals and empowers them to give their best efforts in all they do to be the “best of the batch” in life.
Six different scholarships are available. They include:
Operation Dough Nation, offered by Panera Bread: Two scholarships are available, one for a male and one for a female. This scholarship is for senior student-athletes attending high school in the WPIAL District.
Dignity and Respect Champion: Offers six scholarships to seniors who are attending a Western Pennsylvania high school.
Danyl Settles Scholarship: Two scholarships, one for a male and one for a female, are available to students attending Steel Valley High School in Allegheny County.
Best of the Batch: One scholarship is available to a senior attending any high school in Allegheny County.
Dr. Seuss Oh the Places You’ll Go: One scholarship is available, inspired by Dr. Seuss, to a student who will be attending a college or university in Pennsylvania.
Healthy U N School: Offered by the UPMC Health Plan, one scholarship is awarded to a a student who wants to help bring awareness to Health and Wellness through programs that address healthy eating, childhood obesity, hygiene, stress and depression.
The deadline for this scholarship is usually in APRIL of each year, and the award amount is usually $1,000 - $8,000.
