UNCF/Sprint Scholars Program (Freshmen)
UNCF/Sprint Scholars Program (Freshmen) is offered to current freshmen attending a United Negro College Fund (UNCF) member college or university. Although open to all qualifying students, special consideration is given to students living in the Kansas City metropolitan area.

Applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher and must be U.S. citizens. They must be of African American descent attending a four-year UNCF college or university full-time.

Financial need will be considered. Eligible students may apply online. As part of the application process, essays may be required.

The scholarship is sponsored by the Sprint Foundation, the charitable arm of Sprint that supports education and other needs throughout the country. The non-profit was established in 1989 and since its beginning has given millions of dollars toward education and scholarships, arts and culture, youth development, community development and disaster relief.

The deadline for this scholarship is usually in NOVEMBER of each year, and the award amount is usually $5,000.
