The Richard G. Zimmerman Journalism Scholarship

The Richard G. Zimmerman Journalism Scholarship is open to high school seniors interested in pursuing careers in the field of journalism. Eligible students must plan to attend an accredited four-year college or university and major in journalism.

Applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 or above in order to apply. The scholarship is a one-time award and not renewable. One scholarship is awarded each year.

Students may apply online by submitting a completed application, along with a high school transcript, a letter of acceptance from their college, three letters of recommendation, three work samples, and a completed, signed copy of the Financial Aid Form (FAFSA).

The scholarship is offered by The National Press Club in honor of the late Richard G. Zimmerman, who was a long-standing member. The National Press Club is a member-based professional organization and business center for journalists and communications professionals. It was formed in 1908 and is located in Washington, D.C. Its membership includes journalists, former journalists, government information officers, and other regular news sources.

The deadline for this scholarship is usually in MARCH of each year, and the award amount is usually $5,000.
