Student Caregiver Scholarship is open to students who are currently attending a U.S. accredited college or university. In order to be eligible, applicants must be students who are attending college and caring for an older adult at the same time.
To apply, eligible students must submit either a 1,500-word essay or 2-minute video that describes their experience in being a college student who is also caring for an older person who is a relative. Students who will be freshmen in college must describe their experience in caring for an older relative while attending high school.
The scholarship is provided by Caring.com, an online resource of information for caregivers who are responsible for the care for aging parents, spouses, and other loved ones. Their services include information on in-home care, health information, and other support information for caregivers, including a comprehensive directory of care giving services.
More than 40 million people in the United States care for someone over age 50. The purpose of the scholarship is to help students attend college, students who have taken the responsibility of caring for an older adult but want to attend college.
The deadline for this scholarship is usually in DECEMBER of each year, and the award amount is usually $1,500.
