PFLAG National Scholarship Program is open to graduating seniors entering higher education for the first time. Candidates must identify as being gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer, or other within the LGBTQ community.

Those who are strong allies of the LGBTQ community may also apply. Candidates must demonstrate an interest in service to the LGBTQ community. Students are eligible to receive scholarships from both the national scholarship program and from their local chapter.

Applicants must have applied to an accredited U.S. college or university. Both U.S. and non-U.S. citizens may apply, as long as they plan to attend an institution in the U.S.

PFLAG was formed in 1972 and is the nation's largest family and ally organization supporting people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ), along with families, friends, and allies. The mission of PFLAG is to foster equality and society affirmation of LGBTQ people through support, education, and advocacy. PFLAG has over 400 chapters and 200,000 members and is headquartered in Washington, D.C.

The deadline for this scholarship is usually in APRIL of each year, and the award amount is usually $1,000 - $5,000.
