Rose Ratka Memorial Scholarship Program is open to high school seniors who plan to further their education by attending a trade school, apprenticeship program, community college, state or private university. Applicants can either be current members of Alliance Credit Union or they can join at the time they apply for a scholarship.
Applicants must have a GPA of 2.5 or above. The scholarship may be used to cover tuition, books and school supplies. Scholarship recipients are chosen based on academic performance, volunteerism, a written essay, and their leadership activities in school or the community.
The scholarship is offered by Alliance Credit Union, and named after the late Rose M. Ratka who was President/CEO of the Credit Union from 1978 to 1996. Rose was a strong advocate of continuing education.
Alliance Credit Union is a member-owned, financial cooperative that was founded in 1952. The company serves more than 40,000 members in six counties, including Santa Clara, San Mateo and Alameda counties in California, and New Hanover, Pender and Brunswick counties in North Carolina.
The deadline for this scholarship is usually in APRIL of each year, and the award amount is usually $2,000.
