Cleveland Browns Foundation/ Marion Motley Scholarship

The Cleveland Browns Foundation/ Marion Motley Scholarship will award two deserving students with four-year scholarships. Applicants must be seeking careers in either a professional sports organization or in education.

Eligible students must be high school juniors who plan to enroll in a two- or four-year college. Candidates must have a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 through their junior year in high school and a score of 18 on the ACT or 860 on the SAT.

The scholarship is offered by The Cleveland Browns Foundation and College Now Greater Cleveland. The scholarship program began 11 years ago and have awarded more than $210,000 of scholarship funds to 21 students. The scholarship is named after Marion Motley, former Browns fullback and linebacker who was one of the first African-American players in the NFL. Motley played with the Browns from 1946-53 and was the second African-American inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in his hometown of Canton.

College Now is a Cleveland-based organization that helps students and adults earn a two-year or four-year degree or a certificate. The organization offers advising, financial aid counseling and scholarships.

The deadline for this scholarship is usually in OCTOBER of each year, and the award amount is usually $10,000.
