In 2002, Dado and Maria Banatao established the Banatao Family Filipino American Education Fund with the Asian Pacific Fund to help California high school students of Filipino heritage pursue careers in areas where Filipinos are not well represented, including science and engineering.

The deadline for this scholarship is usually in FEBRUARY of each year, and the award amount is usually $20,000.
