ABPA Harrington/Arthur Memorial Scholarship is open to high school students between the ages of 13-20. Students may enter by completing an essay on how to ensure safe drinking water.
The purpose of the scholarship is to increase knowledge and understanding of how Cross-Connection Control and Backflow Prevention help ensure safe drinking water. Backflow prevention ensures safe drinking water by preventing dangerous and even fatal bacteria, chemicals and other harmful agents from entering water supply systems in communities.
Essays must be 700-1200 words long and are judged on accuracy, clarity, creativity, grammar and spelling. Applicants must submit their essay, along with a completed and signed application form, to enter the scholarship competition.
The scholarship is offered every year by the American Backflow Prevention Association, an organization dedicated to protecting drinking water from contamination through cross-connections. Their work helps to ensure the continued protection of all water users. The organization is located in West Hartford, Connecticut.
The deadline for this scholarship is usually in DECEMBER of each year, and the award amount is usually $1,000.
