The Kristina Flores Overcoming All Odds Scholarship is open to high school students planning to attend college, and current college freshmen and sophomores. The scholarship is for students who have overcome big obstacles that might have prevented them from pursuing their education.
To apply, students must submit a 1000-word essay on how they overcame a significant adversity in order to complete or continue their schooling. In addition to the essay, two letters are required from others who can comment on how the applicant overcame significant adversity that might have otherwise prevented them from continuing their education.
The scholarship is open to all students attending a vocational or trade school, or a traditional college or university. All majors are eligible for the scholarship.
The scholarship is offered by True North Recovery Services and named after Kristina Flores, who died tragically at the age of 23. True North Recovery Services is an outpatient alcohol and drug treatment center located in Encinitas, California.
The deadline for this scholarship is usually in APRIL of each year, and the award amount is usually $1,000.
