Richard E. Merwin Student Scholarship is open to undergraduate juniors and seniors, and graduate students, who are majoring in electrical or computer engineering, computer science, or a well-defined computer related field of engineering.

Applicants must have a GPA of 2.5 or above and be full-time students attending an accredited college or university. Students must be members of the IEEE Computer Society and active student volunteer leaders in student branches or chapters of IEEE.

The scholarships are offered twice a year, with deadlines in APRIL and in SEPTEMBER; students may apply only once per year. Up to 12 or more scholarships are awarded each year.

The scholarship was created in honor of the late Richard E. Merwin, past president of the IEEE Computer Society, to recognize and reward student leadership. The IEEE Computer Society is the world's leading membership organization focused on computer science and technology and serving more than 60,000 members worldwide.

The deadline for this scholarship is usually in APRIL of each year, and the award amount is usually $1,000.
