Women Techmakers Scholars Program is open to women who are studying computer science, computer engineering or a closely related technical field. Applicants must be currently enrolled in or accepted as a full-time student.

Candidates include those pursuing a Bachelors, Masters or PhD program at a university in the United States or Canada. They must have strong academic records, leadership skills, and a passion for increasing the involvement of women in computer science.

To apply, students must complete an online application and include a resume, academic transcripts, two letters of reference from a professor, instructor, adviser or supervisor, and a cover letter that describes the student's background and where they plan to attend college. Responses to four essay questions will also be required.

The scholarship, formerly known as the Google Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship Program, is named after Dr. Anita Borg who devoted her adult life to breaking down barriers for women entering computing and technology fields. The scholarship encourages more women to choose the field of computer science and technology.

The deadline for this scholarship is usually in DECEMBER of each year, and the award amount is usually $5,000 - $10,000.
