Distinguished Young Women Scholarships

distinguished young women scholarships
Distinguished Young Women Scholarships are open to young women across the nation. The scholarships can be either cash scholarships or college-granted scholarships. High school freshmen through seniors may apply.

College-funding scholarships are available at 20 colleges located in North Carolina, Florida, Montana, Maryland, California, Alabama, Idaho, Minnesota, Washington, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Massachusetts.

Scholarships range from a one-year scholarship up to four year, renewable programs. Scholarship money can be used for tuition, room and board, books, or other educational expenses (like lab fees or a computer). Cash tuition scholarships can be used at any accredited institution of higher learning.

Academic requirements vary from 2.0 up to 3.5 or higher. Some scholarships may require applicants to take part in a local or state program. Candidates are encouraged to read each scholarship description carefully as requirements and deadlines may vary.

Distinguished Young Women was founded in 1958 as America’s Junior Miss. The non-profit organization, headquartered in Mobile, Alabama, seeks to reward the accomplishments of high school senior girls wanting to pursue higher education.

As of 2016, nearly 100 colleges and universities have made available over $1.1 billion dollars in college-granted scholarships to over 3,000 participants in more than 400 local, state and national programs.

The deadline for this scholarship VARIES each year, and the award amount is usually $1,000 - $120,000.
