Minorities in Government Finance Scholarship

Minorities in Government Finance Scholarship is open to full- or part-time, graduate or upper level undergraduate minority students. Applicants must be enrolled in a course of study preparing for a career in state and local government finance.

Eligible courses of study include Public administration, (governmental) accounting, finance, political science, economics, or business administration with a specific focus on government or nonprofit management.

Eligible minorities include Black/African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian, Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander, or Hispanic/Latino. Candidates must be citizens or permanent residents of the United States or Canada.

The scholarship is offered by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA), founded in 1906 to promote excellence in state and local government financial management. The association represents public finance officials throughout the United States and Canada.

The deadline for this scholarship is usually in FEBRUARY of each year, and the award amount is usually $10,000.
