Washington Women In Need Education Grant Program

Washington Women In Need Education Grant Program
Washington Women In Need Education Grant Program is open to women in their first year of a two-year academic program and their first or second year of a four-year academic program. The scholarship pays for one year for tuition and required books, and recipients are eligible to apply for one additional grant

Scholarship recipients may attend any approved Washington college or university of their choice. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and a resident of the state of Washington for at least the past 12 months. Eligibility is based on annual household income. For a family of two, for example, household income must be at or below $35,500 per year.

The purpose of the grant is to remove financial barriers to students seeking higher education. The education grant helps women in Washington to improve their futures, strengthen their families and enrich societies as a whole.

Up to 75 scholarships are awarded every year by Washington Women in Need, a Kirkland, Washington non-profit organization founded in 1992 by Julia Love Pritt in honor of her mother. Since it's beginning, the organization has helped over 6,000 low-income women in Washington by helping them improve their lives through grants that provide assistance for vision care, dental care, hearing care, physical care, counseling and education grants.

The deadline for this scholarship is usually in OCTOBER of each year, and the award amount is usually $10,000.
