The Michigan Youth Livestock Scholarship Fund awards scholarships every year to outstanding youth who have exhibited at the premier livestock events in Michigan.
The scholarship is open to all graduating high school senior or a high school graduate continuing education at an accredited institution and a resident of Michigan. They must also be a youth exhibitor at the Michigan State Fair, Livestock Expo or Dairy Expo at least 3 years before. Additionally, included in the application is essays, letters of reference, and most recent high school transcripts.
Since the year 2000, the Michigan Youth Livestock Scholarship Fund has awarded more than $300,000 in scholarships and educational awards. Funds come from the Michigan Livestock Expo Sale-Abrasion and several other charitable donations.
There will be many awardees of either the MYLSF general scholarship or statewide scholarship. This year, some of the applicants may also be given an opportunity to be interviewed by the committee before the Sale-Abrasion event for higher scholarship awards.
The deadline for this scholarship is usually in MAY of each year, and the award amount is usually up to $5,000.
