B'nai B'rith International's Diverse Minds Writing Challenge

B'nai B'rith International's Diverse Minds Writing ChallengeStudents who are up for a challenge in writing are encouraged to join the Diverse Minds Writing Challenge created by B'nai B'rith International, a Jewish service organization.

The challenge is to write and illustrate a children's book that tells a story of tolerance, diversity or inclusion. The story may tackle topics including but not limited to bullying in schools, persons with disabilities, diverse families, LGBT, equal rights, and religious and cultural tolerance.

The contest is open to high school students currently enrolled in grades 9 to 12 in the listed city/region. To be eligible to join, interested students must not be a published author yet.

Entries should be an original nonfiction or fiction work suitable for children in grades K to 5. The 16- to 24-page story must be creative with illustrations and art.

The contest winner will win a college scholarship and his/her work will be published. The school and teacher who has overseen the contestant will also receive cash prizes. There will also be consolation prizes for the second and third winner.

The scholarship program is created to promote tolerance and communicate a message of equality among all citizens, regardless of race, religion, national origin, gender or sexual orientation. B'nai B'rith International aims to destroy prejudices and strengthen the future of the youth through creativity, inspiration, and education.

The deadline for this scholarship usually varies depending on the city/region, and the award amount is usually $5,000.
