The scholarship is funded by The Phillips Foundation, a non-profit organization founded in 1990. Up to 100 scholarships per year are awarded. Although the scholarships are not renewable, students may reapply. The scholarship can be used in the junior or senior year of college.
Eligible students must plan to attend a four-year college or university full time and be U.S. citizens. They must be outstanding students in the classroom and demonstrate extracurricular leadership initiatives.
In 1999, The Phillips Foundation formed The Ronald Reagan College Leaders Scholarship Program to recognize outstanding young students. The scholarships are intended to help these students financially with the costs of college and enable them to continue to promote American values on college campuses.
The Phillips Foundation has awarded more than $6 million in fellowships and scholarships, enabling students to not only pursue their higher education goals but also continue their leadership activities.
The deadline for this scholarship is usually in JANUARY of each year, and the award amount is usually $1,000 - $10,000.
