IMA Scholarship Program

IMA Scholarship Program
The IMA Scholarship Program is sponsored by the Association of Accountants and Financial Professionals in Business organization. It is open to students currently enrolled in college and graduate students who are studying management accounting or financial management.

Two different scholarships are available. They include the Memorial Education Fund Scholarship (MEF) and the Stuart Cameron and Margaret McLeod Memorial Scholarship (SCMS). MEF scholarships range from $1,000 to $2,500. One $5,000 SCMS scholarship is awarded each year.

Full- and part-time students may apply. Students must be Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) members and maintain a grade point average of 3.0. Student applications will be judged on academic merit, extra-curricular and community leadership activities, and IMA participation.

IMA was formed in Buffalo, New York in 1919 as the National Association of Cost Accountants. Its purpose was to be a resource of information and to promote professionalism among accountants. The name of the organization was later changed to the National Association of Accountants, and then in 1991 to the Institute of Management Accountants. The current name reflects the broader role accountants assume in organization management.

The deadline for this scholarship is usually in FEBRUARY of each year, and the award amount is usually $1,000 - $5,000.
