Cleveland Browns Marion Motley Scholarship
Cleveland Browns Marion Motley Scholarship is a renewable scholarship for students located in Northeast Ohio planning to attend college in Ohio. Approved courses of study for this scholarship program include business, accounting, finance, human resources, information technology, communications, journalism, public relations, sports management, marketing/advertising, kinesiology or exercise science, and event management.

Students must live and plan to attend college in Ohio. They must also have a grade point average of at least 2.5, an ACT score of 18 ACT and SAT score of 860, attend college either part-time or full-time, and be U.S. citizens. Students must plan to major in areas that could lead to a career with a professional sports organization.

Financial need must be demonstrated. A family of four, for example, must not have income that exceeds $69,150 in order to be eligible. The scholarship is renewable up to four years.

The scholarship is funded by the Cleveland Browns Foundation, established in 1999 and dedicated to providing financial support to students and others in need in Northeast Ohio. Over $100,000 has been awarded in scholarships since the beginning of the foundation.

The scholarship is named after Marion Motley who was a fullback and linebacker who played for the Cleveland Browns in the 1940's and early 50's.

Along with the application, students must complete an essay describing their career goals and how the scholarship will help them. They must also include a letter of reference from a teacher or school counselor.

The deadline for this scholarship is usually in OCTOBER of each year, and the award amount is usually $2,500.
