Society of Women Engineers (SWE) Scholarships

Society of Women Engineers (SWE) Scholarships are for women pursuing undergraduate or graduate degrees in the areas of engineering, engineering technology and computer science. Female students must be attending accredited colleges or universities and preparing for careers in technical fields.

Two separate applications are required; one application is for college freshmen, and the other application is for college sophomores through graduate school. Each application has its own deadline. Applicants must be full-time students with a minimum grade point average of 3.5 for freshmen and 3.0 for sophomores through graduate.

To apply, students may submit an application online along with transcripts of grades, a resume, and two letters of recommendation. One letter of reference must be from a teacher in a STEM (science, technology, engineering, or mathematics) field who is familiar with the student's work.

The scholarships are offered by the Society of Women Engineers (SWE), a global organization established in 1950 to support all engineering disciplines. The member-based organization helps women become successful in the field of engineering and technology, and provides programs that encourage young girls to pursue careers in engineering.

The deadline for this scholarship is usually in MAY of each year, and the award amount is usually $1,000 - $10,000.
