Thurgood Marshall Fund/ Lowe's Gap Scholarship is open to graduating college seniors with a grade point average of 3.0 or above. Eligible applicants must demonstrate financial need.

Candidates must be graduating college students with a college account balance of $500 - $3,100 owed. Students must be currently attending a Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) participating school. There are more than 50 member schools located across the country. Applicants are chosen based on their academic skills, financial need, and leadership abilities.

To apply, students may submit an online application, a 500 or more word essay that explains their career goals and how the scholarship will help them achieve their goals. A grade transcript and proof of balance owed at college are also required.

The scholarship is offered by the Thurgood Marshall College Fund in association with Lowe's. The Thurgood Marshall College Fund is a Washington D.C.-based non-profit organization named after the first African-American Justice in the U.S. Supreme Court. It is the only national organization that awards scholarships, programs and other support to the 47 public Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Since its beginning in 1987, it has awarded more than $200 million in scholarships and other assistance to its students and member-schools.

The deadline for this scholarship is usually in JULY of each year, and the award amount is usually $500 - $3,100.
