Qualifying students must be working towards a bachelor's degree program in culinary science at CIA. Students must first compete in FIRST Robotics Competitions and FIRST Tech Challenges.
The purpose of the merit-based scholarship is to promote the importance of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) in education and encourage students to apply these disciplines to the food industry.
The scholarship is renewable each year and is being offered by CIA and non-profit organization FIRST, which stands for For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology. FIRST was founded by inventor Dean Kamen. Interested students may apply online.
The deadline for this scholarship is usually in DECEMBER of each year, and the award amount is usually $4,000.
