NANBPWC Scholarships For African American Females

NANBPWC Scholarships For African American Females offers four different scholarships for outstanding females of African American descent. Each scholarship is merit based and requires completion of an essay.

The Dr. Julianne Malveaux Scholarship - open to African American females who are college sophomores or juniors. Candidates must submit a 1000 word essay on the topic: Your Career Plans and Their Relevance to the Dr. Julianne Malveaux program theme: Black Women's Hands Can Rock The World."

NANBPWC National Scholarship - is open to African American high school seniors. Candidates may apply by submitting a 300-word essay on the topic: "Explain the benefits you have gained through the contributions of two trailblazers of African decent and how it has benefited you as a person."

The Dr. Blanca Moore-Velez Woman of Substance Scholarship - is open to African American females who are 35 years old or older and enrolled as an undergraduate student. Candidates must submit a 500-word essay on the topic: "Challenges to the mature student and how I overcame them."

The Peola Smith-Smith Educational Leadership Scholarship - is open to graduating high school seniors or college undergraduate students who are members of the NANBPWC. Candidates must complete a 300-word essay on the topic: "Why education is important to me."

All candidates must have a GPA of 3.0 or above and plan to attend or currently be attending an accredited college or university.

Scholarships are awarded through The National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women's Clubs, Inc. (NANBPWC), formed in New York City in 1934 for the purpose of sharing experiences, exchanging information, protecting their interests, and encouraging and developing opportunities for black women in businesses and professions.

The deadline for this scholarship is usually in MARCH of each year, and the award amount VARIES.
