LeadsOnline, "catching crooks and cooks since 2000," is a nationwide online network that enables detectives to search for stolen property by utilizing a database of recorded tickets from pawn shops, gold buyers, scrap metal dealers and other businesses who are required to report this information to law enforcement officials.
The Scholarship recognizes the contribution made by law enforcement officials and supports the higher education goals of future generation leaders. Seven awards ranging from $250 to $1,000 are given to high school seniors. Also, two $500 awards each are given to one current college student and one employee at a law enforcement agency who is attending college.
In addition to the application, qualifying applicants are required to submit a one-minute video on how law enforcement agencies have benefited from using LeadsOnline services. One winning student, for example, used an old-fashioned silent movie approach to demonstrate how LeadsOnline services can solve crimes that would otherwise not have been possible. Another student used a video to show how the services increase the number of crimes solved, and in less time.
The deadline for this scholarship is usually in MAY of each year, and the award amount is usually $250 - $1,000.
