Alexander Graham Bell College Scholarship Program is for students who are deaf or hard of hearing and want to pursue an undergraduate or graduate degree at a four-year college or university. Eligible students must have a hearing loss that was diagnosed prior to their fourth birthday.
The scholarship is extremely competitive, requiring a grade point average of 3.5 or above. Applicants must have hearing loss in both ears with a Pure-Tone Average (PTA) of 60 and above.
Eighteen scholarships are generally awarded each year. The scholarship is not renewable; however, students are eligible to apply for a total of two awards through the AG Bell College Scholarship program.
The scholarship is funded by the Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, a nonprofit organization whose purpose is to provide assistance to adults and children with hearing impairments. Their efforts in research, education and financial aid have helped many people live normal lives. The scholarship program has given $100,000 in scholarships to help students with hearing loss be able to attend college.
The deadline for this scholarship is usually in MARCH of each year, and the award amount is usually $1,000 - $10,000.
