California Young Cancer Survivor Scholarship Program

California Young Cancer Survivor Scholarship Program
California Young Cancer Survivor Scholarship Program helps young cancer survivors in California have an opportunity to attend college. The scholarships are open to students who plan to attend a two- or four-year undergraduate college or university in California.

The scholarship covers tuition, fees, books and supplies. Applicants can be up to 24 years old and diagnosed with cancer at age 18 or younger. Eligible students must demonstrate financial need. They are also required to complete 50 hours of volunteer work with the American Cancer Society (ACS).

Applicants need to be active in ACS events, such as Relay For Life or Daffodil Days. Student applications will be judged on financial need, medical hardship, and community service. Required grade point average is 2.5 or above.

The purpose of the scholarship is to provide financial assistance to families who are struggling with medical expenses due to cancer treatment and provide young cancer survivors the opportunity to pursue their higher education goals.

The American Cancer Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping people fight cancer and find a cure. Headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, ACS is a worldwide organization whose many volunteers have provided support services for cancer patients around the world since 1913.

The deadline for this scholarship is usually in APRIL of each year, and the award amount is usually $7,500.
