GoDaddy.com .ME Scholarship is open to all high school students who are citizens of the U.S. and are either enrolled or plan to enroll in an accredited college or university.
Eligible students will have a grade point average of 3.0 or above, a score of at least 21 on ACT and over 1,000 on SAT tests. Ten students will be chosen for scholarships based on academic achievement and their ability to write a compelling 500 word essay on "how the Internet or Internet technology has helped you during the course of your studies and how you envision benefiting from it through college and beyond."
The essays will be judged on creativity and originality with the top ten students chosen to receive scholarships. The scholarships can be renewed each year during the four-year college enrollment. In addition to the essay, students applying for the scholarship will need to include recommendations from a teacher, employer, coach or mentor and two professional references.
The scholarships are sponsored by GoDaddy.com. It was founded in 1997 and is one of the largest companies who offer web domain registrations and web hosting services. Their headquarters are located in Scottsdale, Arizona and they now have locations around the world.
The purpose of the scholarships is to encourage students who are interested in pursuing careers in technology. The scholarship money not only provides financial support for college costs but also is an investment in a future generation of tech-savvy employees who will soon enter the workforce.
