ACES Education Fund Scholarship is open to college juniors and seniors, graduate students and those who have graduated from college and are interested in a career in copy editing. It is a one time only scholarship available to students who are U.S. citizens.

Interested applicants must be pursuing full-time jobs or internships in copy editing and must major in journalism or course work related to copy editing. Students need to complete a 500-word essay on the importance of copy editing in the media. In addition, they must include six headlines they have written and provide three references from faculty members or supervisors.

Five scholarships are awarded annually. In addition, scholarship recipients will have an opportunity to attend the annual American Copy Editors Society (ACES) conference. Each winner will receive free registration and up to $500 in travel expenses.

The American Copy Editors Society was founded in 1997 in Long Island, New York, to support the profession of copy editors in the newspaper industry. The non-profit, member-based organization provides education, workshops, and networking among copy writers worldwide. Since 1999, the organization has awarded scholarships to deserving students and continues to raise money through the generous donations from individuals and corporations.

The deadline for this scholarship is usually in NOVEMBER of each year, and the award amount is usually $1,000 - $2,500.
