Environmental Protection Scholarship
Environmental Protection Scholarship is for students currently attending college at a Kentucky public university and interested in a career in environmental protection. The scholarship is renewable for college juniors, seniors and graduate students.

Applicants must be full-time students at a public university in Kentucky. Eligible fields of study include Biology, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Earth Science, Environmental Science, Hydrology, Mechanical Engineering and Natural Sciences. Students are required to complete 60 semester hours before applying.

Students must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher. They can be either U.S. or non-U.S. citizens. In addition, students applying will be required to work for the Kentucky Department for Environmental Protection full-time following graduation for a total of six months for each semester they have received a scholarship award.

The scholarship is funded by the Energy and Environment Cabinet (EEC) through the Kentucky Water Resources Research Institute (WRRI). The EEC was created to support programs that protect the environment in Kentucky. The Kentucky Water Resources Research Institute (KWRRI) at the University of Kentucky focues on water-related environmental issues in the state of Kentucky.

The deadline for this scholarship is usually in FEBRUARY of each year, and the award amount is usually $15,000 - $30,000.
