Louisiana State Scholarships

Louisiana State Scholarships
Louisiana State Scholarships offer several awards for students planning to attend a public college or university in the state of Louisiana, a Louisiana community or technical college, or an independent Louisiana college or university.

The scholarships include four Taylor Opportunity Program for Students (TOPS) awards. The TOPS Opportunity Award covers tuition and fees at any Louisiana public college or university. A grade point average of 2.5 or above is required.
The TOPS Performance Award also covers tuition and fees at any Louisiana public college or university plus a stipend of $400 per year and requires a grade point average of 3.0. The TOPS Honor Award is similar to the Performance award but also includes a stipend of $800 per year. The TOPS Tech Award is for students attending Louisiana community or technical colleges and has a grade point average requirement of 2.5 or above.

The Rockefeller State Wildlife Scholarship is for undergraduate or graduate students pursuing a degree in forestry, wildlife or marine science at a Louisiana public college or university. The scholarship covers up to five years of undergraduate study and two years of graduate school. A grade point average of 2.5 or above is required. Students must complete 60 hours of course work before applying for the scholarship.

The scholarships are sponsored by the Louisiana Office of Student Financial Assistance (LOSFA), a state agency whose purpose is to provide opportunities for more students in Louisiana to have access to a college education. LOSFA also helps students from low-income families obtain a post secondary education.

The deadline for this scholarship is usually in JULY of each year, and the award amount is usually $2,000 - $5,000.
