Joe Foss Institute Scholarship Program

Joe Foss Institute Scholarship Program
Joe Foss Institute Scholarship Program awards scholarships to students with winning essays that focus on patriotism and Veterans who served their country. It is open to high school students grades
9 - 12.

The program offers several different scholarship awards. Each one is based on students writing an essay on a particular topic. The "Adopt A Veteran" Essay Scholarship requires students to get to know a Veteran who has served their country and write about their experiences. There is also an essay scholarship specifically for high school seniors who plan to attend William and Mary University.

For high school students from Oklahoma who are planning to attend or currently enrolled in Oklahoma State University, two students will receive a scholarship for writing an essay about community rebuilding. These students must have been impacted in some way by the May 2013 tornadoes in Oklahoma.

The scholarships are sponsored by the Joe Foss Institute in Scottsdale, Arizona. The non-profit organization supports American freedom and is named after Joe Foss who served in World War II and the Korean War, served two terms as Governor of South Dakota, and following retirement, spoke to groups of young people about the importance of leadership and patriotism.

The deadline for this scholarship VARIES each year, and the award amount is usually $1,000 - $5,000.
