AFSA High School Senior Scholarship Contest gives high school seniors a chance to win a scholarship to college. It is open to all high school seniors planning to attend a U.S. accredited two- or four-year college, university, technical or online school.
To enter the contest, students need to read an essay about fire sprinklers. They will then take an open-book test on the subject that consists of 10 multiple-choice questions. Students receive one contest entry for each correct answer--a total of 10 entries possible.
A total of 10 scholarships will be awarded. Students must be U.S. citizens, high school seniors, including home-schooled students, and plan to continue their education. Financial need is not a requirement to enter the contest.
The scholarship contest is sponsored by the American Fire Sprinkler Association (AFSA), a non-profit, international association representing open shop fire sprinkler contractors in the U.S. and around the world. Their work includes fire safety and education on the dangers of fire.
The deadline for this scholarship is usually in APRIL of each year, and the award amount is usually $2,000.
