Elks Legacy Awards is open to high school seniors who are children, grandchildren, step-children or step-grandchildren of Elks members. Members must be living with membership that began on or before April 1, 2011.

Eligible students are those who are currently high school seniors who are planning to attend college. They must exhibit the same qualities that are representative of the Elks National Foundation, including integrity, commitment to community, a willingness to help others (charity), and knowledge of the Elks.

The scholarship is renewable and may be used for tuition and fees, books and supplies, room and board. The number of awards given in each state varies, with a total of 250 scholarships awarded each year. 

The Elks began in 1868 as the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. Since its beginning, the organization has helped veterans, students and others in need. Today the organization has 850,000 members and nearly 2,000 lodges across the nation, all providing valuable charitable services that help build stronger communities.

The deadline for this scholarship is usually in JANUARY of each year, and the award amount is usually $4,000.
