DuPont Challenge Science Essay Competition
DuPont Challenge Science Essay Competition is open to all high school students in grades 7 - 12. To enter, students must submit an essay on a topic that addresses science-related issues.

To qualify, students must be 13 years old or older; it is for high school students only. Students can be from the U.S. or Canada and can also be attending private or public school or be home-schooled. Awards include first, second and third-place winners, plus honorable mentions, in each grade category, which includes Junior Division (7,8,9) and Senior Division (12,11,12).

First-place, second-place and third-place winning essay winners, their parents and their teachers win awards plus an expenses-paid trip to the Walt Disney World® Resort and Kennedy Space Center.  Student awards are in the form of savings bonds. To apply, students may choose a science-related topic and write an essay that is no more than 1,000 words.

The competition is sponsored by DuPont, a science-related company founded in 1802. The company makes products for the agriculture, nutrition, electronics, communications, safety and protection, home and construction, transportation, and apparel industries. The essay competition is offered to support the education of students in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

The deadline for this scholarship is usually in JANUARY of each year, and the award amount is usually $200 - $5,000.
