Applicants for this scholarship must be nominated by their teachers. Students are chosen based on their academic performance and interest in the use of technology. Students must be outstanding performers in their area of study to be eligible for a scholarship.
In addition to a teacher nomination, students who apply for the scholarship must be able to articulate what they have learned from their technology experiences in the areas of business, marketing or personal finance.
The scholarship is offered by Knowledge Matters, a Massachusetts based organization that publishes simulation-based business and personal finance curriculums for high schools. A grant from the U.S. Department of Education made the establishment of the organization possible in 1997. Since then, over a million students have benefited from their programs throughout 5,000 high schools across the nation. The purpose of the scholarship is to provide financial support for students to continue their education.
The deadline for this scholarship is usually in APRIL of each year, and the award amount is usually $2,000.
