Donald W. Banner Diversity Scholarship for Law Students

Donald W. Banner Diversity Scholarship for Law Students is open to students currently enrolled in a JD degree program in a U.S. accredited law school. Eligible students must be members of historically underrepresented groups in the area of law, which includes race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and disability.

Qualified students must have high academic achievement, excellent communication skills, leadership abilities and must demonstrate a strong interest in helping their communities. Students chosen for the scholarship must be entering their second or third year of law school at the time the scholarship is awarded.

To apply, students may submit a completed application and return it with their resume, transcript of grades, a writing sample, three references, and a cover letter that explains their view on diversity and how it has impacted their lives.

The scholarship is offered by Banner & Witcoff, LTD., a professional law firm that specializes in intellectual property law, including patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret, computer, franchise and unfair competition law. The scholarship is named after Donald W. Banner, who was an expert in patent law at Banner & Witcoff and a former U.S. Commissioner of Patents and Trademarks.

The deadline for this scholarship is usually in JANUARY of each year, and the award amount is usually $5,000.
