Bright Minds Scholarship Program is open to California high school seniors or graduated seniors who are in their first year of college. The scholarship program is designed for exceptional students who have overcome personal obstacles or who have contributed toward improving their communities.
Applicants must be at least 16 years of age. High school seniors who are planning to enroll as full-time students at a two-year or four-year accredited college in the U.S. may apply, as well as students who have already entered their first year of college.
Students must live in an area that is served by the Pacific Gas and Electric Company. This includes about 48 counties in the state of California. To apply, students may submit an application online. The application must include a transcript of grades and a cover letter that describes the student's career goals, work history, and any school or extracurricular activities.

The deadline for this scholarship is usually in FEBRUARY of each year, and the award amount is usually $2,000 - $20,000.
