Heath Ledger Scholarship is open to any emerging Australian actor to help them further their career and training in the U.S. Applicants must be actors who are in their early career stage, over 18 years old and Australian citizens or permanent residents.
The scholarship includes one year of acting classes at the Stella Adler Academy of Acting & Theatre, a VIP casting package, and cash. Applicants must have exceptional talent and have demonstrated achievement in their field.
The purpose of the scholarship is to reward exceptional students and give them an opportunity for a future within the film arts industry in Los Angeles. To apply, actors must submit a video of three minutes or less to support their application, a resume, and two professional references.
The scholarship was established in 2008 and is named after Heath Ledger, famous Australian actor whose films included A Knight's Tale, The Patriot, Brokeback Mountain, and The Dark Knight. The scholarship is funded by Australians in Film Foundation, Inc., a non-profit organization in Los Angeles who recognizes the outstanding work of Australian film and television makers and performers in the U.S.
The deadline for this scholarship is usually in APRIL of each year, and the award amount is usually $20,000.
