ThanksUSA Scholarship is for military souses and children, including high school seniors planning to attend college and current college freshman, sophomore, juniors and seniors. The scholarship is for dependents and spouses of US military service personnel.
Eligible applicants include spouses and children of military personnel in Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines, Navy, and National Guard. Applicants must plan to attend a two- or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school. Children must be under the age of 24 and attend school full-time at an accredited college or university in the U.S.
All applicants must have a grade point average of 2.0 or above. Children must be pursuing undergraduate degrees, and spouses may use the scholarship to pursue either a first-time undergraduate degree or non-degree licensure or certification. Military personnel must have served at least 180 days in service. Spouses and dependents of wounded and killed military personnel are also eligible to apply.
Up to 500 scholarships are awarded each year through the ThanksUSA mission. ThanksUSA is a non-profit foundation based in Washington D.C. that raises money to provide need-based scholarships for military spouses and children. The foundation is funded by federal, cash and in-kind corporate donations and private contributions.
The deadline for this scholarship is usually in MAY of each year, and the award amount is usually $3,000.
