Derek Jeter Turn 2 Foundation Scholarship Programs

Derek Jeter Turn 2 Foundation Scholarship Programs provide financial assistance to help minority and other students attend college. Scholarships are available for students in the West Michigan, New York City and the Tampa-St. Petersburg, Florida areas.

The Foundation was established by Derek Jeter, a New York Yankees 12-time All-Star baseball player whose impressive record places him along with Hall of Famers Yogi Berra and Mickey Mantle. Derek started the Foundation in 1996 and called it the Turn 2 Foundation whose mission is to encourage young people to "turn to" healthy lifestyles and "turn away" from drugs and alcohol.

Five different scholarships are offered. The Derek Jeter/Kalamazoo Community Foundation Scholarship, for example, awards a four-year scholarship to graduating seniors who are residents of Kalamazoo County or who attend a school in Kalamazoo County and are planning to enroll full time in an accredited college or university. The Derek Jeter/Jackie Robinson Scholarship is offered to minority students who plan to attend college.

All of the scholarships are offered to eligible students who demonstrate leadership qualities and are active in their communities to help others stay away from alcohol and drugs and live healthy lives. Since its beginning, Turn 2 has awarded more than $16 million to youth programs in West Michigan, New York City and the Tampa-St. Petersburg area.

The deadline for this scholarship VARIES each year, and the award amount VARIES.
