The purposes of the Skip Barber “Karts to Cars Scholarship” awards is to help continue the education and experience for winners who want to pursue a racing career. The goal of the scholarship program is to support the careers of future race car drivers through scholarships to the Skip Barber Seasonal Championships. This is considered an important first step toward the Mazda Road and Indy Ladder System.

Judging of drivers is based not only on speed but also on control of the car, consistency, demonstrated experience of the driver and overall presentation. All drivers musty follow safety equipment and safe driving requirements. Entry fees are required in order to take part in the Karts to Cars Shootout driving competition. All Shootout sessions are completed in Formula Skip Barber race cars.
The Skip Barber Racing School was formed in 1975 and incorporates racing schools, driving schools, and racing championships across North America. The company owns and operates five prestigious car racing championships for amateur as well as professional racing competitors.
The deadline for this scholarship is usually in OCTOBER of each year, and the award amount VARIES.
