The Book Industry Charitable Foundation (Binc) Scholarship Program
The Book Industry Charitable Foundation (Binc) Scholarship Program is open to current Borders bookstore employees and owners and their dependents, or former employees who had been with the company for a year or more. Eligible applicants must plan to enroll full or part-time as an undergraduate or graduate student at an accredited two or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school.

Applicants can include spouses, same-sex partners, or children under the age of 25. Scholarships are not renewable, but students may reapply for a scholarship each year, as long as they meet the eligibility requirements. Scholarship money may be used for tuition, fees, books, supplies and room and board.

Candidates will be selected based on academic achievement, financial need, leadership qualities, and may include other factors such as a goals statement, work experience, and unusual personal or family circumstances. Up to 53 scholarships will be awarded.

The Book Industry Charitable Foundation (Binc) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting bookstore employees across the country. Since their founding in 1996, the Foundation has given over $5 million in financial assistance grants and higher education scholarships.

The deadline for this scholarship is usually in FEBRUARY of each year, and the award amount is usually $3,500 - $10,000.
