The National League of American Pen Women Scholarship Competition is open to female high school seniors, undergraduate college students, or other college students of any age. It is open to female artists, photographers, writers, instrumentalist musicians and composers.
To enter the competition, applicants must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Each candidate must submit a letter of application that describes their goals and achievements. A letter of recommendation from a teacher or counselor is also required, along with work samples. Work samples can include copies of original writing, CDs of music, photos of art, and copies of original music composition.
The scholarship is open to females only. Three scholarships will be awarded.
The scholarship is sponsored by The National League of American Pen Women (NLAPW), Santa Clara, California branch. The branch is one of over 150 branches of Pen Women throughout the United States. NLAPW is a non-profit organization made up of women who have demonstrated creative talents in art, letters, and music composition. Their purpose is to foster creative work and professional standards in art, letters and music.
The deadline for this scholarship is usually in MARCH of each year, and the award amount is usually $2,000.
