Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival Scholarship Program
Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival Scholarship Program is open to graduating high school seniors of Japanese descent in Northern California. Applicants must be graduating seniors of Japanese American descent attending an accredited high school in Northern California.
Candidates must have a GPA of 2.5 or above. Ideal candidates will also be actively involved in their local community. Two scholarships are awarded every year.
Student applications will be judged according to academic record, personal character, community activities, and a written essay. Scholarship winners will participate in Cherry Blossom Festival activities, including the Cherry Blossom Festival Opening Ceremony at the Peace Plaza Stage, Japantown, San Francisco.
The scholarship is provided by the Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival, one of California’s most prominent celebrations with Asian traditions. It is also the second largest festival outside of Washington, D.C. The event is a magnificent display of the Japanese culture and the diversity of the Japanese American Community.
The deadline for this scholarship is usually in MARCH of each year, and the award amount is usually $2,000.
