Many Hollywood stars and sports celebrities are known to support education by establishing scholarship funds. They are the ones who have made their own fame and fortune and want to pay it forward by helping young people get a college education. One of these is the Lebron James Family Foundation.
The Lebron James Family Foundation Scholarship was established by basketball star Lebron James and pays for four years of tuition at the University of Akron for more than 2,000 at-risk students.
The new scholarship program was established by the Lebron James Family Foundation in partnership with JPMorgan Chase. Up to 2,300 inner-city high school seniors from Akron public schools will be selected to receive full scholarships to attend the University of Akron,
Although required grade point averages and other criteria have yet to be announced, the scholarship is already working with third-graders from Akron public school to enter the Wheels for Education program that provides students with after-school and summer camp mentoring. While these students can move into the I Promise program until they finish high school, others will also be selected for the I Promise program over the next four years to receive scholarships.
The scholarship program is designed to provide full tuition for four years of college for hundreds of inner-city students.
The deadline for this scholarship VARIES each year, and the award amount is up to $38,000.
