The Gates Scholarship For Minorities

The Gates Scholarship is a full tuition scholarship awarded to exceptional high school seniors planning to attend college full time. Applicants must be minorities, including African-American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian & Pacific Islander American, and/or Hispanic American.

The Gates Scholarship will be awarded to 300 eligible minority high school students. Candidates must have a GPA of 3.3 or above, be in the top 10 percent of their graduating class, and demonstrate leadership qualities. Eligible students must plan to enroll full-time in a four-year degree program at an accredited, not-for-profit, private or public college or university in the US.

Gates Scholars will receive funding for the full cost of attendance that is not already covered by other financial aid and the expected family contribution. The scholarship is renewable every year, as long as the student maintains the requirements for the scholarship.

The Gates Scholarship was launched in 2017 by The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The all-expenses-paid scholarship was designed to help high-potential, low-income minority students to excel in their course work, graduate college, and continue to be leaders throughout their lives.

The deadline for this scholarship is usually in SEPTEMBER of each year, and the award amount VARIES.
